The state government is set to introduce a fresh scheme titled Swatantra Yuva Udyami (SWAYAM) aimed at raising self-employment opportunities for the youth in the state. The cabinet has given its approval for this scheme, marking a major step towards empowering young individuals to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors.

As per the scheme's requirements, the state government will extend interest-free bank loans of up to Rs 1 lakh to unemployed individuals aged 18-35 male or female residing in rural and urban areas of Odisha, as highlighted by the Chief Secretary. In country districts, qualification for the plan expects that the candidate's family be signed up for either the Krushak Help for Occupation and Pay Expansion (KALIA) or the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) of the state. The public authority plans to incorporate at least 1 lakh provincial young people into the plan for more than a two-year time frame.

It will spend Rs. 448 million for the plan. In metropolitan regions, the plan will be named SWAYAM (U).
